Annual Report 2009 Vitens Evides International

06 April 2010
Utrecht/Rotterdam – In 2009 Vitens Evides International once again made a significant contribution with its various projects to the improvement of the drinking water supply in countries such as Ghana, Vietnam, Mozambique and Mongolia. More people gain access to water, less water is lost between the purification plant and the customer, and the operational management of the local drinking water companies visibly improves. 2009 saw the award of a new project to Vitens Evides in partnership with Simavi and DHV in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries. Through sharing the Dutch drinking water sector’s expertise and experience with local water companies, structural improvements are made to the water supply and the water quality for slightly more than 700,000 residents of the country’s two biggest cities, Lilongwe and Blantyre. And the powerful consortium of drinking water companies, an engineering firm and a health organisation is a good example of a partnership in its most effective form.
