NRW Workshop Da Nang great success

29 March 2010
March 25th and 26th a big NRW Workshop took place in Da Nang, Vietnam. Over 200 people visited the successful event.

The percentage of Non Revenue Water – water which gets lost between the source and the customer – is in several developing countries very high. Which is also the case in Vietnam (30%). The Vietnamese water companies want to reduce the percentage of Non Revenue Water. To discuss the subject, exchange experiences and to discuss methods to reduce the NRW, the Workshop was organized.

On Thursday March 25th several presentations were held by different Vietnamese water companies and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Also Mr. Ad Doppenberg, Project Director, gave a presentation on behalf of Vitens Evides International. On March 26th the visitors of the workshop discussed the roll of the Control Centre with reducing NRW and the Caretaker system. Followed by a field visit. In three groups people visited the locations where Da Nang Water Company (Dawaco) was repairing leakages.

The workshop was a cooperation between Dawaco, Vietnam Water Supply and sanitation Association, Asian Development Bank and Vitens Evides International. Resident Project Manager Gerard Soppe arranged the workshop together with the local Vitens Evides International team. Considering the number of visitors (from Vietnam and International) and the many positive reactions, we can conclude that the NRW Workshop was a great success.
