Vitens Evides International Annual Report 2010

06 October 2011

Utrecht/Rotterdam

In 2010 Vitens Evides International successfully worked with partner utilities in the South to improve and expand urban water services. We made progress in all the cities in which Vitens Evides International is active – in countries such as Ghana, Malawi, Mongolia, Mozambique, Surinam and Vietnam. As a result of our efforts to enhance the performance of local water utilities, considerable investments were made towards reaching the repair and expansion of water services infrastructure; this is a critical to reach the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of halving the number of people worldwide who lack access to reliable and safe water and to sanitation facilities by 2015. New partnership agreements were entered into with water utilities in Ethiopia, Zambia and  the Philippines. Vitens Evides International invested in the further improvement of its quality of service, the preparation and coaching of our long- and short term staff missions, and the promotion of knowledge management and learning between our various international projects. In 2010, finally, the Netherlands Government decided to focus more clearly on the water sector in its international development cooperation programme. Together with our partners, we are committed to make the best of our long track record in water utility management available in years ahead. Our track record shows that international cooperation between water utilities can actually deliver improved water services in the rapidly growing urban areas of the developing world.

These and other results are published in the Annual Report 2010, which is available in the downloads section of this website.
