The Surinaamsche Waterleiding Maatschappij (SWM) and Vitens Evides International are working together to improve the quality and availability of drinking-water for some 300,000 people in the coastal areas of Suriname. The purpose of the project is to improve and expand the groundwater extraction and methods to purify drinking water. Therefore we are constructing six new drinking water treatment plants. We are also working on renewing and expanding the distribution network and installing 30,000 water meters.
Vitens Evides International is providing support in the preparation and implementation of the short-term investment programme. The technical assistance involves support for project managmenet, the preparation of tender document, assistance during tender procedures and construction supervision.
